David Steward is the founder of the privately held $1 Billion Information Technology firm, World Wide Technologies, based in St. Louis, MO. David was raised in Missouri in a very segregated community. He went to college and through sheer determination, found his way onto the basketball team despite his high school coach and others telling him he was not cut-out for college ball. After graduating, he sent out over 400 resumes in a span of 3 years before finally landing a decent corporate job. He worked in marketing and sales at a railroad company, then for Fedex. He became the top salesperson for Fedex company-wide.
Then, David Steward set out on his own. Like so many other entrepreneurs before him, he found himself $3.5 million in debt. At one point, it got so bad, that in 1992, his car got repoed car out of the company parking lot. With the help of the Lord, he finally discovered his windfall and turned the business into an economic powerhouse. His most fundamental attitude toward life and business is to serve others. His basic business philosophy is that making money to be your goal will lead you to poverty but focusing on serving the public, your employees and your vendors leads to prosperity.
